December 10th

Scroll down to December 9th's entry for homework. If you miss school, come in at lunch to catch up on what you missed and/or visit the course pages. Students in grade 8 are responsible for making up work missed during absences.

In English, we are reviewing how to construct a compare/contrast paragraph/essay by exploring the similarities and differences between different versions of Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol (Stave 1). You can thank me that we are not comparing the following versions...

Okay, I might be a wee bit interested in the Dr. Who version.

Home/School Communication

Parents' and students' questions or concerns should be addressed in a timely manner. So, here is my policy for tight home/school communication:

Email:

I check emails:

Sunday at 8pm, Mon - Thursday at 7am and again at 4pm, and Friday at 7am. My policy is to respond to emails as I receive them. I do not check my emails during the day; I am dedicated to working with your kids at that time.

If you have an emergency and need to contact me, please phone the front desk.

Blog Comments.

I update my blog daily at noon Sunday through Friday; I check comments at that time. The comments reinforce what was discussed in class or written up on the homework board.

Meetings/Tutorials:

Drop in meetings for parents are available on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 3 to 4 pm as well as Monday and Thursday at lunch. I am not able to meet in the morning because I am preparing the day's lessons. If you drop-in, please make sure to sign in with the front desk.
