Tuesday May 30th
A reminder that my tutorial hours are: Monday and Wednesday 3 to 4, Tuesday and Thursday 8 to 8:30, and lunches upon request. These hours are also posted on this blog.
Today, you went to EMCS. You got to see a Chemistry demonstration and had a tour of the facilities. For those of you going on to other secondary schools, you can arrange your own tour with their counselors. The leadership students communicated a message that applies to all high schools: responsible use of time, seeking out help when you need it and getting involved in extracurriculars will spell into success at this next level of schooling.
English: Today you did an in class assignment and activity to start off our survival unit. Here is the link, if you were away. This was a marked assignment.

There is a test on this historically significant document this coming Wednesday. You will be allowed to use your notes in the quiz as it is a critical thinking question that will be asked.
English: You were assigned a script. Here is a link to the task. You should know who you are working with, if anyone. Also, you should have an idea in mind for the script.
You spent the afternoon being entertained at the Sooke Community Hall. What an excellent cultural experience.
If this is you, you need to study your notes for Wednesday's quiz:
No word until tomorrow J.L.. I will be back on Wednesday.

Math Double Block Div 4: You were given an introduction lesson on multiplying negative integers. For those of you who weren't here, you should review the page on the math link and see me if you still don't understand. There is a test on operations with negative integers and algebraic equations on Wednesday next week. I showed you how to review this using a deck of cards. Choose one colour to represent positive and the other to show negative numbers. Then, lift two from the deck to add, subtract, multiply or divide. This is your homework. If you don't practice, don't expect to be good at anything; math is no exception.
Bwa ha ha...is the word today because that is what you will say when you see this...

Tomorrow is the 4th. STAR WARS THEME...GEEK OUT EVERYONE ;-)
Math Div 4: We added and subtracted sets of negative and positive numbers. Most of you mastered the skill, so we will be learning how to multiply negative and positive numbers tomorrow. My goal is to have you learn how to operate with negative integers so that we can solve some algebra problems that use them.
English Div 4 and 5: You were given one block of computer lab time to compose your resume. It is due on Monday (dual credit assignment for Career and English (technical writing). I have the lab open at lunch, if you don't have a computer or internet at home. Here is the link to that assignment. Refer to the resume guide that we reviewed in class and follow the criteria and format.
